About the relevance of the European Model for Regulating Security Problems in Northeast Asia, this paper argues lat le contrast between Europe and East Asia is so profound, as far as military balances and distribution of power are concemed, lat one can hardly imagine that practices and institutions that proved effective in one of these geostrategic spaces would be able to produce comparable effects in other: NATO, CSCE, and negotiations on arms control and disarmament. Nevertheless, policies followed by the Europeans for overcoming the division of their continent in spheres of influence could be a source of inspiration for the Asian countries confronted by 난le after effects of the Cold War and longing for a stable peace order.
