Hunting Tools of the Upper Paleolithic in Siberia

시베리아지역은 넓은 의미로 지칭할 때에는 알타이지역과 극동지역, 야쿠치야지역, 바이칼지역을 모두 포함시킬 수 있다. 이러한 시베리아지역에서는 알타이지역에서부터 극동지역에 이르기까지 다양한 시기와 특징을 보이는 후기구석기시대 유적들이 발견되었다. 시베리아의 후기구석기시대는 편년과 출토되는 석기군을 통한 문화상으로 볼 때 45,000∼30,000B.P., 30,000∼20,000B.P., 20,000∼15,000B.P., 15,000∼ 10,000B.P.의 대략 4시기로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 시베리아지역에서는 양면박리기법과 돌날문화의 특징을 가지고 있으면서 비정형의 세형몸돌이 이른 시기에 출현한다. 이로 인한 석기의 소형화와 기술체계의 변화는 1기에서부터 잎형찌르개가 존재하고 결합식도구와 골각제 찌르개 등이 나타날 수 있는 배경이 되었다. 또한 2기에서부터 세형돌날문화가 발전해감에 따라 이러한 사냥도구들은 더욱 정교하고 소형화 되어 나타났으며, 특히 4기에 이르러서는 눌러떼기기술을 통한 아주 세밀한 잎형찌르개 등이 극동지역을 중심으로 후기구석기시대 말기까지 이어진다고 할 수 있다. 시베리아에서는 이처럼 이른 시기에 양면석기가 나타나면서 이 양면석기를 중심으로 사냥도구들이 발전하게 되었다. 이러한 양상은 후기구석기시대 후기로 갈수록 더욱 보편적으로 되며, 기술적 발전으로 인해 훨씬 정교한 사냥도구들이 나타나게 되는 것이다. 따라서 이러한 특징은 인류의 이동, 정착의 과정에서 나타나는 복합적인 요소를 가지고 있다고 할수 있으며, 문화의 역동성을 확인해 볼 수 있다고 생각된다.

The Siberian region may refer to a wide area including Altai, Yakutia, Baikal, and the Far East. Upper Paleolithic sites with various periods and features from Altai to the Far East have been discovered. Siberian Upper Paleolithic can be divided into four periods: Period 1(45,000-30,000 B.P.), Period 2 (30,000-20,000B.P.), Period 3 (20,000-15,000B.P.), and Period 4 (15,000-10,000B.P.). In Siberia, atypical micro-cores appear in the early period, with features of bifacial technique and blade culture. The miniaturization of the stone tool and the technological changes provide the background where foliate points, composite tools and bone points appear from Period 1. In addition, as the blade culture developed from Period 2, these hunting tools became sophisticated and miniaturized. Especially in Period 4, detailed fo liate points through pressure-flaking predominant in the Far East continue to the terminal Upper Paleolithic Age. As such, hunting tools appeared early in the Siberian region, developed from the early appearance of bifacial tools. This aspect becomes increasingly widespread towards the late Upper Paleolithic, and technological advances lead to more elaborate hunting tools. This in turn reflects the complexity of the migration and settlement process of humans, and reaffirms the dynamic nature of cultural change.
