This study purposed to examine difficulties and troubles experienced by private affiliated kindergarten directors. For this purpose, we conducted qualitative research by an ethnographic method through in depth interview and group interview with 3 private affiliated kindergarten directors in S City, Jollanamdo. Data were collected from the researcher’s journals, informants’ interview and journal writing, etc. and the meanings of collected data were analyzed and categorized. From the results, 5 main categories were identified and sub-topics under each category were defined and analyzed. The identified main categories were limitation in roles and responsibilities described as ‘Authority falls and responsibility rises,’ excessive workload described as ‘Never-ending works,’ confusion in identity described as ‘Dilemma between employer and employee,’ parent management described as ‘Friendly and unfriendly parents,’ and superior institution analyzed as ‘Invisible supervisor.’
