Value Harmony as a Social Capital and EHW Factors in Korea

The central purpose of this paper is to explore the relation-ship between value harmony and the structure of educa-tion, households, and work (EHW) in Korea, in an attempt to explore the sociocultural forces that reinforce the social cohesion of the Korean society. The authors analyze recent successful community-minded campaigns in Korea in terms of social cohesion as a social capital and claim that social cohesion is directly related to value harmony in a so-ciety, especially, among EHW. Thus, the high value com-patibility among each of EHW is claimed as an important factor to make the social cohesion viable. Through the analysis the relationship between value compatibility be-tween EHW, the result of the study shows that Korea has more important factors than Western societies, which are required for harmonious relationship between the EHW structures.
