Many underachievers, who are not interested in mathematics because of the lack of basic learning ability, think that mathematics is an uninteresting, difficult and tiring subject. Accordingly, the purpose of this thesis is to have the students develop an interest in mathematics and rid themselves of the frustration with a sense of self-confidence and achievement. This thesis is developed from the following hypothesis concentrating on the inspection of degrees of learning achievement through the small groups cooperative learning method. (hypothesis 1) There will be difference between the small group cooperative learning method and the cramming lecture. (hypothesis 2) The achievement degree of the underachievers in mathematics will be higher in the small group cooperative learning method than in the cramming lecture method. The above two hypotheses are all affirmative in the result of using the small group cooperative learning method.
