Compared to other areas in South Korea, Miryang has more historic sites related to the prosperity of tea culture along with a long history. The records reveal that the locals, during the Goryeo period, picked tea leaves and made and enjoyed tea, that Miryang s Jukno tea and Yellow tea (Milseong tea) were popular among Goryeo and Joseon literati, and that Miryang tea was superior to Chinese-produced tea. Underlying such tea prosperity was the fact that Miryang had produced a lot of tea since ancient times, and Joseon Nationwide Geographies and Native Geographies continued to record Miryang as a famous tea production area. Miryang was a famous tea production area in the past and has many records showing that it enjoyed tea culture, but there are few studies on the local tea culture-related historic sites of Miryang. The goal of this study is to promote local tea fans cultural pride, to inherit and further develop the time-honored local tea culture, to help Miryang rise to the world tea culture level, and to grow its tea culture industry as a competitive local industry.
