A new stability analysis of QR factorizations using the two types of Householder refl.ections is presented. It shows that theuse of the common type( the first) in QR factorizations with pivoting for size by row and column exchanges leas to rowwise more stability, although the second type has been used in Householder transformation for the better purpose. A row-oriented backward error bound for the second type Householder QR factorizations with column pivoting is drived.
