제7차 교육과정 과학 교과서에 제시된 생명공학 관련 STS 자료 분석

An Analysis of STS Materials on Biotechnology in Science Textbooks in the 7th Curriculum

Teaching biotechnology becomes a central issue in biology classroom not only due to its rapid developments but to the extent of its social impacts. We investigated how these biotechnological issues were integrated in the secondary school science textbooks in the Seventh Curriculum. The textbooks examined in this study presented biotechnology mostly as a new breakthrough in medicine. Most cases were focusing on the application of science and not much attention was payed on the ethical aspects. Although all the issues were presented as parts of STS materials, they failed to encourage diverse activities in the class. Discussion and information search were the two major activities described in the text.
