A Study on the Developments of the Web based Teacher s Distance Training

The purpose of the study is to present the improvement plans of distance learning for in-service teachers in terms of what they want to take, and to identify the areas of contents they need to take using questionnaires. The study investigate the related studies of distance learning, and diagnose the problems and current state in distance learning systems for in-service teachers. In addition, it examined the relationship between retraining of teachers and lifelong education, and investigated the current state of distance learning. It particularly examined the current state and trends of distance learning institution for in-service teachers, and analyzed the curriculum. Questionnaires that were distributed and collected analyzed the opinion of in-service teachers who had experience in distance learning and the types of contents of distance teacher training. The study does not reflect technical aspects of the training. Improvement plans for the future distance learning were drawn based on the results. Research findings and conclusions of the study are as follows : First, most teachers evaluate positively the training results. It is necessary that distance training center and curriculums are restructured and resized. Second, financial support is needed for the training. It is necessary that the cost of in-service teacher distance training as well as training informations and materials is supported by the government when it especially is related with work. Third, it is suggested that training program for hobby, health, and welfare should be increased. Because teacher also is interested in hobby, health, welfare as an individual, it is needed to set up a measure to cope with the situations. It appears that training program as a lifelong education based on teacher s educational background, age, region should be provided.
