A Concept and Discourse of Sustainable Development

이 연구는 지속가능한 발전의 교육 모형 수립을 위해 지속가능한 발전 개념과 담론을 역사적이고 논리적으로 규명하여 새로운 교육 모형의 이론적 기초로 삼는 것을 목적으로 한다. ‘지속가능한 발전’ 개념과 담론은 기본적으로 인간과 자연의 균형, 환경 보호와 경제 성장의 균형, 선진국과 개발도상국의 사회적 균형을 강조하며 세계의 지속성을 확보하려고 한다. 이러한 목표를 실현하기 위해서는 교육이 중요할 수밖에 없다. 왜냐하면 우리 공동의 미래는 교육을 통해 실현될 것이기 때문이다. 그런데 기존 교육과 학습의 교수자 중심의 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 학습자 중심의 교육인 ‘평생학습’이 중시되어야 한다. 또한 평생학습에서 성인 대상의 고등교육 분야를 집중적으로 다루는 것이 적합하다. 왜냐하면 아동 교육인 페다고지(pedagogy)보다 성인 교육인 안드라고지(andragogy) 가운데 고등교육은 지식기반 사회에서 최고의 교육단계이며 그 지식은 경제적으로나 사회문화적으로 핵심적인 가치를 지니고 있기 때문이다. 교육적으로 볼 때 ‘지속가능한 발전’의 ‘지속가능성’이 ‘평생학 습’의 가치관과 긴밀히 연결되어 지금까지의 교육 문제에 대한 미래의 대안적 교육이 ‘평생학습’, 특히 원격 고등 교육이 중요하다. 그리고 평생학습의 차원에서 고등 교육의 특성화라 할 수 있는 것이 CROSS-OVER형 교육 모형을 연구할 필요가 있다. CROSS-OVER형 교육 모형의 특징을 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교차 조사로 학생의 욕구와 산업 체의 요구에 대한 정확한 기초 조사를 바탕으로 한다. 둘째, 교차 학습으로 기존 학문간의 경계를 넘나들거나 가로지르는 교차 또는 융합 학문의 학습이 이루어진다. 셋째, 교차의 완성으로 학생 개인의 욕구가 반영된 경력의 향상을 중심으로 이것을 산업체의 요구와 정확히 교차시킨다. 넷째, CROSS-OVER형 인재의 양성으로 새로운 사회적, 산업적 변수들에 따라 실천적인 검증 과정에서 발생 하는 문제들을 끊임없이 개선하고 보완하여 CROSS-OVER형 인재를 양성한다. 이러한 과정이 단지 일회성으로 그치는 것이 아니라 끊임없이 되먹임(feedback)되어 구체적인 문제점들을 실질적으로 개선하여 CROSS-OVER형 교육 체계를 완성한다는 점이 중요하다.

This thesis is written for the purpose of making a basic model in the education of sustainable development. Accordingly I will analyze the concept and discourse of Sustainable Development with the historic and logical method. Fundamentally there are three balances in the concept and discourse of Sustainable Development . They are harmonies of human and nature, ecology and economy, advanced country and developing country. By the way for the society of Sustainable Development an education is very important, because our common future will be realizing with the education. Today we are taking serious view of life-long learning in the education. The core of life-long learning is not a teacher but a student. As a student is developing by himself in the life-long education, finally it will settle the problem of cramming educations. And the higher education is suitable to the life-long education, especially andragogy. The higher education has very important values in the knowledge based society, because it can create new knowledges. Life-long education is very relate to Sustainability in the sustainable development. As alternative education, higher education on line is very important. And specially it is necessary that we study on the educational model of CROSS-OVER type in the higher education. The educational model of CROSS-OVER type has four distinguishing marks. First, it is based on correct surveys about desire of students and need of industries. Second, it is the life-long learning on the curriculum of CROSS-OVER, that is cross over or confusion of studies. Third, there is the development of a student s career with crossing over the need of industries. Fourth, as the goal, it cultivates the talent of the CROSS-OVER type by means of feedbacks in the CROSS-OVER system.
