사이버대학생의 완벽주의와 다문화가정에 대한 편견과의 관계

The Relationship between Perfectionism and Prejudice in the Multicultural Families of Cyber University Students: The Moderating Effect of Image Management

본 연구는 완벽주의를 다차원적으로 구분한다는 개념을 전제로 하여, 완벽주의의 하위차원 가운데 타인지향 완벽주의 및 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의가 편견적 태도와 관련성을 가질 것이라고 가정하고 이를 확인해보고자 하였다. 아울러, 타인지향 완벽주의 및 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의와 편견과의 관계가 사회적 바람직성의 한 측면인 ‘인상관리’ 수준에 따라 달라지는지 알아보고자 하였다. A사이버대학생 432명을 대상으로 하여 상관분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 첫째, 타인지향 완벽주의와 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의 성향이 커질수록 편견적 태도가 더 커진다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 둘째, 사회적 바람직성의 하위변인인 ‘인상관리’ 수준에 따라 타인지향 완벽주의 및 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의와 편견 간의 관계가 통계적으로 유의하게 달라짐을 발견할 수 있었다. 즉, 인상관리 차원은 이들 완벽주의와 편견 간의 관계에서 조절 효과를 나타내었다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 편견과 관련된 개인의 성격적 특성으로서 완벽주의 하위차원의 특성을 구체적으로 이해할 수 있었다. 더 나아가 완벽주의 성향이 큰 사람들이 편견적 태도를 많이 갖게 되는데 에 있어서 사회적 바람직성이 어떠한 역할을 하는지 확인할 수 있었다는 데에 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

The purpose of the present study was two-fold: 1) To investigate the relationship between perfectionism and prejudice and 2) to examine the moderating effects of social desirability on these relationships. For this study, 432 cyber college students were recruited. Results were as follows. First, sub-factors of perfectionism, other-oriented perfectionism , and socially oriented perfectionism were associated with prejudice. Second, the sub-factors of social desirability and image management moderated the relationship between other-oriented perfectionism , socially oriented perfectionism , and prejudice. Finally, the implications of this study and directions for future studies are discussed.
