<방귀쟁이 며느리> 설화에 형상화된 지배 질서의 변화와 그 의미

】본 논문은 구비설화 <방귀쟁이 며느리>를 지배 질서의 문제를 중심으로 새롭게 해석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 이야기는 며느리와 방귀의 결합이 웃음을 유발하는 기제로 작용하는 작품으로 향유자들이 한바탕 웃고 즐기는 소화(笑話)적 성격이 강한 민담이다. 하지만 이 이야기는 웃음 그 너머에 내재되어 있는 사회적 문제에 대한 의미성도 중요하게 독해할 필요가 있는 작품이다. 본고는 <방귀쟁이 며느리> 설화를, 며느리와 방귀가 가부장적 질서 내에서 차별과 소외를 받고 타자화되고 주변화되는 전반부와 어떤 상황에서 주어진 문제를 주도적으로 해결하여 타자화와 주변화를 극복함으로써 실용적 가치 지향으로의 변화를 도모하는 후반부로 나누어 살폈다. 논의의 결과, <방귀쟁이 며느리> 설화는 가부장적 질서가 실용적 가치를 지향하는 질서로 변화하는 과정을 며느리의 방귀를 통해 설화적으로 흥미롭게 서서화한 작품임을 확인하였다. 이 이야기는 시댁 내에서 며느리와 시댁 구성원들 사이의 소통 문제, 집(시댁) 안과 밖이라는 공간의 문제, 가치 인식의 문제 등이 지배 질서의 변화와 긴밀하게 연관되어 있는데 이것이 <방귀쟁이 며느리> 설화가 웃음을 통한 인간관계의 활성화라는 기능뿐만 아니라 며느리(여성)와 방귀 같이 차별받고 소외받는 존재를 통한 사회적 문제에 대한 비판과 지배 질서의 변화에 대한 민중적 갈망을 내재한 작품으로 해석할 수있는 지점들임을 고찰하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to newly interpret the <A farty daughter-in-law> as the center of the issue of governance. This story is a folk talent with a strong character of laughing that the enjoyment of laughter is enjoyed by the combination of daughter-in-law and farts. However, this story is a work that needs to be read seriously about the significance of the social problems beyond laughter. Thus, this article set the <A farty daughter-in-law> narrative, the part where the daughter-in-law and the fart were Othernized and marginalized with discrimination and alienation within the patriarchal order system. And in some situations, we set as the second half to overcome the tying and the main change by leading the problem solving. Both of these were studied. As a result of the discussion, <A farty daughter-in-law> confirmed that the process of changing the patriarchal order to value-oriented order was a story that was interestingly stood up through the fart of the daughter-in-law. At the same time, the problem of communication between the daughters-in-law and the family members, the problem of space inside and outside, and the problem of the perception of value are closely related with the change of the dominant order. This is not only the function of <A farty daughter- in-law> fables, the activation of human relations through laughter, but also the criticism of social problems through discrimination and alienation such as daughter-in-laws (women) and farts Which is a point of interpretation as a work that embodies the desire for.
