Korea’s Ministry of Education has already decided to change the evaluation system of the CSAT from Relative Evaluation to Absolute Evaluation just from 2017 CSAT. Consequently, we need to think about the future direction of secondary English Education and the necessities of the new approaches for English Education in Korea. The aim of this paper is to focus primarily on the present situation of secondary English Education and to explore the possibilities of humanistic approaches based on Language Learner Literature in Korea. For the past twenty five years we have tried to broaden the scope of the possibilities of literature texts as effective teaching materials in the EFL setting in Korea. Also, such texts are authentic, and much more, they have ‘context of situation’ that almost amounts to real-life settings. Literature serves a humanitarian purpose, one related to the age-old liberal arts education in which it was essential to study language and arts to the betterment of one s self.
