川島浪速の思想と行動に関する一考察

川島浪速(かわしまなにわ)は、中国における警察制度の近代化に少なからず尽力したが、同時に対露戦に備え、いわゆる大陸政策の画策に奔走した大陸侵略の尖兵でもあった。また、川島が満蒙独立運動に走った主な理由の一つは、日本が満蒙人を指揮して中国本土と分離させ、一つの独立国家として建設する上で、中国進出の立脚点として考えていたからである。こうしたことから言えば、彼は日本の国益のために満蒙独立運動に参加していたことがわかる。彼の満蒙独立運動は失敗に終わったが、その後の満州事変と満州国建設につながり大東亜共栄圏構想の実践的転換点になったという事実に反論の余地はないだろう。 何よりも川島浪速は、中国と日本の関係を対等な水平的な関係ではなく、日本が政治的な指導の立場に立ち、中国を導くということに主眼を置いていることがわかる。
