“대독일제국” vs “파시스트 유럽”

“Grossdeutsches Reich” vs “Europa Fascista” : the Inner Cleavage of Nazi Europe

  • 141

This study deals with the inner cleavage of Nazi Europe. The Italian fascists and the French collaborators wanted Europe to be integrated on the basis of equal rights between fascist states in Europe. They developed several programs which were specialized in economic integration. They tried to win over the Nazis for this purpose, but Germany rejected all the projects for European integration based on equal rights. Hitler intended that Europe be integrated on the basis of German supremacy. This was the inner cleavage of Nazi Europe which made the Axis powers weaker than the Alliance powers. The Eurofascist projects of European integration have some positive meaning only when they are compared with postwar European integration. Naturally, postwar European integration was based on the anti-fascist spirit, i.e. human rights, democracy. Owing to these characteristics, postwar European integration differed from Eurofascist European integration. Except for the totalitarian regime which the Eurofacists endeavored to introduce in the fascist European union, their economic integration programs were no more than the ones that postwar European fathers planned and realized. In this point can be found the similarity between two sorts of European integration.
