A Study on the Business Ethics and Personal Characteristics

The efforts to increase business ethics toward sound economic growth are inevitable. The purpose of this paper is to examine differences between business ethics and personal characteristics factors. Theoretical developments in business ethics are reviewed. Business ethics are classified with egoistic, benevolence, principle in ethical criterion dimension. Personal characteristics factors include Type-A personality, locus of control, achievement motivation, self efficacy, justice attitude. To investigate the attitudes Neumann and Reichel(1987) s business ethics questionnaires and personal characteristics questionnaires are used. Data are gathered through direct survey to students of Korea Aviation Polytechnic College in Sachon City. Results reveal that there are considerable differences in Type-A personality, locus of control, achievement motivation, self efficacy, justice attitude, Especially differences in locus of control are great. The possible reasons for the findings are discussed in the light of korean situations. Also implications, limitations and directions of study are suggested.
