The Analysis on Union-Management Cooperation and Moderation Effects Depending on Characteristics of Union and Management Party

The purpose of this study was to make empirical analysis on potential effects of the characteristics of employees and employers, who all belong to union and management party, upon union-management cooperation, and thereby to demonstrate moderating effects of working years, company history, enrollment of employees and labor (or trade) union on the relationships of union-management cooperation. In order to make such empirical analysis, a questionnaire form was prepared on the basis of theoretical backgrounds. Then, this study surveyed 488 employees working for manufacturing companies located in Daegu city and Gyeongbuk province, Korea. Summing up, this study came to the following suggestions: It is advisable that employers take positive measures for labor or trade union activities and build a system for employees. Moreover, it is required that employees should be informed of how their workplace could contribute to local community, and both employers and employees should be committed to social responsibilities, trying to work in harmony with each other.
