The equivalent circuit method was conventionally used to analyze the characteristics of electric machines. Nowadays, the Finite Element Method is widely used for more accurate analysis and design of machines. The torque of an induction motor is generated through the induction current of the conductors of rotor are located on the rotor by putting power into stator side. And this characteristic is affected greatly by air-gap at induction motor. Therefore, in this paper, input current and output torque change are presented by the length of air-gap induction motor. And the four step analysis models of which the length of air-gap are different, were analyzed by the FEM at rated load. The flux distribution and air-gap flux density were also obtained. From the above result, it was confirmed that the more length of air-gap is the greater input current and the smaller output torque.
