A Study on the Correlation of Static Strength Distribution in Materials

Generally, the material strength have a tendency to statistical distribution is widely well known facts. But the study on the statistical properties different among differences materials is rare. The objective in this thesis is to investigate the correlation of static strength distribution in materials the material used for the experiments is S10C, S45C and Aluminum. The standard tensile test specimens are fabricated with precision based on the KS material-4 rule, and performed the tensile experiments by using the universal testing machine. The results obtained from the experiments are as follows : As for the carbon steels, the statistical distribution for the mechanical characteristics tensile strength, yielding point, elongation and reduction of area, and young s modulus of static strength is more large of high carbon steel. For the aluminum, the distribution of elongation and reduction of area is more large than that of carbon steels. Also the tendency to the young s modulus, tensile strength, and yielding point are similar to the carbon steels. Finally, the results of probabilistic distribution show good agreements with the Weibull distribution regardless of the materials.
