The single-phase induction motors are most widely used motors at home and office. The motors are usually used in fixed speed and torque drives. Variable speed control of single-phase induction motors is usually achieved either by using tapped-winding, or by mechanical method. However these techniques are inefficient and complicated. This paper proposed the equivalent circuit and efficiency improvement of the single-phase induction motors drive system to improve the dynamic performance for low power AC motors. The drive system proposes a method for using a bidirectional AC power controller with two thyristors. The single-phase permanent split condenser motor is analysed by an unbalanced two phase system to determine the torque that can be expected under variable voltage control of main winding. The theoretical basis for the control strategy, full experimental results are presented
