This paper proposes a new AC/DC boost converter which improves the PFC(Power Factor Correction) and low current harmonic components of 3-level single-phase boost converter by a novel digital PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control algorithm with two main switch. The conventional main switch of single-phase boost AC/DC converter operating in PFC is used only one switch to control the input wave-shape and to regulate output voltage. The advantage of proposed circuit has small size of low blocking voltage because two power switching devices for generating three-level voltage pattern. The digital PWM patterns of two main switching devices are controlled to force the main current following the sinusoidal current and unit power factor. Also, the control scheme is based on the current comparator, capacitor compensator and voltage region detector. Experimental results show the veridity of the proposed digital control method of AC/DC boost converter for input power factor correction.
