We present a new technique that generates circularly polarized microwaves that can discharge an atmospheric-pressure plasma to produce high-intensity white light. The basic configuration of the circular polarizer is two elliptical cylinders that are crossed at their central axes at a right angle and thus the phase velocities are different such that at the end of the polarizer waveguide the difference in the phase angles are 90° producing a circularly polarized microwaves. These circularly polarized microwaves are then used to discharge plasmas in a spherical bulb situated inside a resonator cavity. This paper will describe the characteristics of the high-intensity white light generated using this technique.
