The Change of Surface Roughness according to the Cutting Speed and Cutting Direction after a Finishing Cutting by Ball-Endmill

According to the development of CNC machine and CAD/CAM technology for die and mould manufacturing, many processes are being automated. It is very important to get the high precision of surface roughness to decrease a time of last machining. In this study, for the robust mechanical structure with SM20C a carbide ball end mill according to the change of cutting speed, cutting in the direction of many by finishing was to obtain the best surface roughness. The surface roughness of tool path direction is better for up-cutting than down-cutting and represents a good result in average for downward cutting than upward cutting.
