This paper discusses the effect of fiber orientation upon weld strength of short fiber reinforced polymer composites. The polymer composite material used in this experiment is a polyphenyene sulfide(PPS) with amorphous structure, such as super engineering plastics, including 40% short glass fibers. The appearance of fiber orientation in the mold was named either a flower-like pattern in a wide areaor a volcano-like pattern in a narrow area. In addition, It was discussed the effect of the matrix and orientation of glass fiber on strength. The results derived from the experiments on fiber orientation and weld strength of short glass fiber-filled polyphenylene sulfide are summarized as follows.
