진학계 고교의 진로별 교육과정에 관한 학생 요구 조사 분석

An Analysis on the Middle School Students’ Opinions on Establishing a Career Compatible Curriculum in Academic High Schools

본 연구는 진학계 고교가 학생들의 진로별 학습기회를 제대로 보장하지 못하고 있다는 문제의식에서 출발하여 진로별 교육과정 구현의 바탕이 될 수 있는 중학생들의 진학계 고교 교육에 대한 요구와 학업진로의 방향을 파악하는 데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 먼저 고교 교육에 대한 대조적 관점들과 진로별 교육과정의 의미를 탐색하였고, 진학계 고교의 진로별 교육과정은 대학교육 준비단계의 성격을 반영할 필요가 있을 것으로 보았다. 진로에 따른 고교 공부에 관하여 대학 진학을 희망한 중3 학생 1,427명의 의견을 분석한 결과, 진학계 고교에서 적성, 진로에 따른 희망공부를 집중적으로 하고자 하는 학업진로 요구와 진로 희망의 다양성 등 진로별 교육과정의 개설 필요성을 확인하였다. 또한 현재 문·이과식보다는 문·이·예·체의 4개의 계열에서 파생되는 15개의 세부 과정을 학습하기를 선호하는 경향도 확인할 수 있었다. 끝으로 진로별 학습기회를 보장하는 지역 내 여러 학교 간 교육과정의 다양화와 개별학교의 특성화를 기초로 다양한 진로별 교육과정을 구현할 필요성을 확인하였다.

This study began with the concern that academic high schools fail to guarantee students opportunities for learning by career. The purpose of this study was to investigate ninth grade students’ opinions on establishing a career compatible curriculum in an academic high school and their plans for an academic career. We analyzed the meaning of a career compatible curriculum and present two contrasting points of view on high school education, and we took the perspective that a career compatible curriculum in an academic high school can prepare students to pursue higher education. We analyzed the responses from 1,425 students who want to enter college and identified their desire to pursue an academic career and its diversity and the need for a career compatible curriculum in high school. We also found that they prefer to study according to 15 courses derived from 4 tracks rather than choosing between current two tracks of liberal arts and natural sciences. Finally, we confirmed the necessity of implementing a career compatible curriculum based on the characterization of individual schools and the diversification of curricula among various schools in the region.
