Structural steels are usually welded by butt submerged arc. After effects of residual stress are considered about welding materials and PWHT materisls, the main conclusions obtained arc as follows 1. Althougth both the welding materials and the PWHT materials have a little difference at the initial crack tip, it is presented that compression residual stress exists. 2. The hardness distribution two-sided specimens has difference by the heat treatment effect of weld penetration heat in two-fold welding, but the hardness distribution of welding materials and PWHT materials were observed to be always the same thing.
