Extraction and Distance Measurement of Moving Object for Using Human Vision

This paper presents the method of measuring the distance using the features of stereo image, and the distance to the object defining the things with moving element as an object for selection of the object. The present method extracts the moving element of pixel unit. Since change in brightness of image may appear, this method present adaptation type threshold to cope with the change in brightness, in order to complement this. This method was designed to measure the distance of moving object within the designated ranges, using the parallel camera installation type, to measure the distance from stereo image. As a result of experiment, the error in distance measurement to the moving object was 1% on average, and thus, its practicality was confirmed.
