Alternative Selection Method for Proper Design Changes Using Diagrammatic Building Systems Integration Model

In Korea, studies related to design changes have mainly focused on design change interface, drafting and design process improvement and collaboration related research. In this study, analysis on the theory of the existing design changes, the process to select the actual design change alternatives and a mathematical model to evaluate construction cost and period were suggested as a method to select alternatives for appropriate design changes. In addition, a Diagrammatic Building Systems Integration Model(DBSIM) was utilized in this study as methods to respond effectively to design changes that occur in the construction phase. Based on this, the methods to select alternatives for appropriate design changes were suggested in the following order: (1) DBSIM-based alternative extraction, (2) analysis of correlation between elements, (3) review on satisfying the requirements, (4) mathematical model for appropriate design changes. This study was carried out as a basic research for efficient design change management, and it is thought that continuous research for connection with Building Information Modeling(BIM)-based software will be required in the near future
