A Study on the Development of the Space Index of the Universities Research Facilities

A number of advanced countries have recently built new research facilities necessary for enhancing their capability in meeting continuing education needs and industry-academy cooperation. While twenty-five academic and industrial entities in Korea joined together 2006 to form Industry-Academia Cooperation Committee to upgrade korean universities‘ international research competitiveness including modernization as well as expansion of the research facilities, they have not yet even set up the amount of research buildings required to meet their goal. The main objective of this research is to identify the standard space of the research facilities in the universities that need be constructed to meet research goal. To meet the objective, the researchers investigated related information broadly from advanced countries through questionnaire survey They also visited 3 japanese national universities near Tokyo, Japan to perform interview with the facilities management experts.
