A study on Japanese Public Facility Management

Many japanese local autonomous entities are taking in a notion and technique of FM for public facility management. The social backgrounds were slowdown of economic growth, aged society, a low birthrate, decrease of population. And not used spaces and buildings, functional deterioration and physical deterioration of facility were the cause of deficit finance of a local government. And japanese local autonomous entities also had to establish countermeasures for the environment problem, the energy problem and natural disaster. On the other hand, it was need to improve the waste according to divided management and non-professional management of Public Facility. This report summarizes the purpose, manner, progress of a Japanese local government took in FM.
