When evaluating physical environments and design alternatives, users consider a variety of environmental characteristics and building attributes. From a consumer oriented perspective, it is important to identify physical environmental characteristics and which attributes are more influential for its value. Since managers and developers usually need to make a decision for building alternatives in balance with cost. For estimating values of the built environment and its attributes, Hedonic Price Model, Contingent Valuation Method, and Conjoint Analysis are commonly employed. Thus, this study has a purpose to find out similarities and differences among the three value estimation methods for physical environment, and to investigate how these methods were applied. Hedonic price model focused on which attributes are more important for the total value of the physical environment. Contingent Valuation Method focused on the estimation of total cost and the total amount of payment consumers want to pay. Conjoint analysis is useful to find out a specific array of attributes including value for a specific group of users. It was found that these methods were used in responding for various purposes. However, it was clear that these three methods were all very supportive for decision making regarding physical environment and facilities.
