The study intents to provide basic information of home-office planning and design after analyzing responses of office workers at architectural firms in Seoul. The study carried out a survey in order to identify preferences of architectural firm workers on home-office working. The survey collected information on preferred number of days in a week, positive and negative factors of home-office working, and home-office design. The results of the study indicate that most respondents have positive attitudes on home-office working and want to have independent home-office space at their home. The findings of this study are described below. The respondents have positive attitudes on home-office working in general and are willing to participate in home-office working system when their firms adopt the system. The younger the respondents, the more they prefer to joining home-office working. The preferred average home-office working days are identified as 2.67 days in a week. Most respondents want to have independent working spaces at home that can be used as study rooms as well. The U-type’ layout of home-office is the most preferred and corner-type’ and alcove-type’ are also preferred. The study implicates that home-office working is widely accepted and even preferred particularly among young office workers at architectural firms. By adopting home-office work system, architectural firms can save expenditure of office space and can hire competent office workers who are willing to work as part-time or full-time home-office workers.
