A Case Study on the LCC Analysis for the Education and Research Building of Seoul National University

How to select alternatives by using LCC analysis in the beginning stage of building layout is presented through a case-study. The result of this study whose objective is to show guideline applying LCC to practical work is as following. The result of analyzing and comparing architectural planning elements and structural systems by taking examples of a plan and a substitute Indicates that the plan of LCC is 800million won profitable than that at a substitute, which shows large LCC reduction effectiveness at outdoors sun blocking effect and rooftop greening. The disparity of an outer wall-system substitute of the previous estimation that the difference at LCC is remarkable is not larger than expected, thus it might be possible that LCC analysis of the substitute is meaningless in case of considering a performance aspect as a normal element. Accordingly the choice of outer wall material, in case that a design effective aspect is more important than a expense aspects, might be selected by placing a great deal or the design effective aspect.
