꽃대가 강건하고 절화장이 긴 대륜계통의 자주색 반겹꽃 절화용 거베라 신품종 ‘Purple Queen’

A New Purple and Semi-double Gerbera Cultivar ‘Purple Queen’ with Long and Thick Peduncle for Cut-flower

A new gerbera cultivar ‘Purple Queen’ was released by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 2011. A cross was made between ‘Selma’ with long peduncle height and ‘Marathon’ with pinkish purple and semi-double flower in 2007. After investigation of the characteristics for five years (from 2007 to 2011), it was selected for the use of cut flower. The ‘Purple Queen’ cultivar has purple flower color (RHS RP66B) with dark brown center. The flower was semi-double and 11.4 cm in diameter. And inner ray floret and disc diameter were 6.1 cm and 2.3 cm, respectively. It has a long and thick peduncle of which length and upper width were 50.3 cm and 5.0 mm, respectively. The vase life of ‘Purple Queen’ was 12.2 days, which was 3 days longer than the control cultivar. And its average yield was 51.4 stems per plant, which was 4.4 stems more than the control.
