Earth science is the study of the earth and the natural phenomena of its circumstances. Earth science, therefore, has characteristics of environmental science as well as general science, as distinct from physics, chemistry and biology. This paper is a comparative study on the changes in the earth science curriculum in korean high schools. The aim of this paper is to examine both past and present curricula of earth science as a special science utlizing the six basic concepts of time, space, matter, energy, power, and motion, and to establish future directions. This study will also compare earth science with the other sciences concerning the development of their ideas through researching the position and the charactericts of earth science.
