회수보장 및 재활용이 제품 품질, 가격 및 반품 정책에 미치는 영향

Effect of Buyback and Recycling on Product Quality, Sales Price and Return Policy in a Supply Chain

본 연구는 제조업체와 판매업체가 존재하는 공급망 상에서 고객 행동에 중요한 영향을 미치는 제조업체의 제품 품질 의사결정, 그리고 판매업체의 제품 가격과 반품 정책 의사결정을 통합적으로 다룬 연구이다. 본 연구의 목적은 고객의 반품이 존재하는 폐쇄형 공급망 상에서 반품 제품의 회수보장 계약과 이의 재활용이 기업 및 공급망의 전반적 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 분석하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 연구의 기본으로 유승호 (2017)에서 소개한 고객의 구매 및 반품 행동 모형을 받아들이고 이를 확장한다. 본 연구는 다양하게 나타날 수 있는 공급 계약 형태에 따른 두 공급망 모형을 제시하는데, 이들은 가장 기본적 형태의 공급 계약인 도매가 계약과 반품 제품의 회수를 보장하는 회수보장 계약이다. 두 공급망 모형을 비교하여 본 연구는 공급망 현실에 다음과 같은 중요한 시사점을 제시한다. 회수보장 계약은 재활용에 의한 생산비용 절감과 관대한 반품정책으로 인한 수요의 촉진으로 어떠한 경우에도 더 높은 수준의 전체 공급망 이익, 제조업체 및 판매업체의 이익을 유도한다. 이러한 이익 개선은 공급망 내 모든 업체에 고르게 나타나므로 큰 저항 없이 회수보장 계약을 통한 반품 제품의 재활용을 추진할 수 있다. 또한 본 연구는 기업이 불리한 외부 환경 변화에 처했을 때 보다 적극적으로 회수보장을 통한 재활용 정책을 도입하여 더 높은 비율의 이익 개선을 기대할 수 있음을 밝혔다. 하지만 이를 위해 재활용 프로세스를 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 충분한 환경 역량을 갖추는 것이 선결 과제임을 잊지 말아야 한다.

This study investigates the effect of the buyback with recycling decision on product quality, return policy, and sales price in a supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer. This study extends the consumers’ purchasing and return behavior models in Yoo (2017) to reveal the effect of buyback and recycling of returned items on the supply chain’s overall performance. We compare two supply chain models-wholesale price contract and the buyback contract with recycling-to provide important implications for practitioners. Buyback with recycling always ensures higher profits for the manufacturer, retailer, and overall supply chain, regardless of any environmental change. However, there are no significant differences in the profit improvement ratios of the two players. This is not only due to production cost savings from recycling but also due to the generous return policy and the greater number of demand requests induced by the buyback contract. Moreover, we can expect the profit improvement effect from the buyback contract with recycling, especially if the environmental changes are unfavorable. However, we need to note that the efficient management of the recycling process is a prerequisite for the adoption of buyback with recycling.
