수출중소기업의 정부기술지원 활용도와 혁신역량이 국제화수준에 미치는 영향

The Influences of Utilization of Government Technological Support and Technological Capabilities on SME’s Internalization : The Moderating Effect of Industry Types

본 연구는 국내 수출중소기업의 제품혁신역량, 공정혁신역량 및 정부의 기술지원 활용도와 국제화수준 간의 관계를 살펴보고 이들의 관계가 산업유형(고기술산업/저기술산업)에 따라 상이하게 나타나는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수출중소기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 210부가 실증분석에 이용되었다. 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 가설을 검증한 결과, 제품혁신역량은 전체 표본의 국제화수준에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 고기술산업부문의 기업에 대해서는 제품혁신역량을 제고할수록 국제화수준이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 저기술산업의 경우 제품혁신역량이 높을수록 낮은 국제화수준을 보였다. 공정혁신역량은 전체 표본의 국제화수준을 제고하는 요인으로 나타났으나, 산업유형에 따른 차이는 유의하지 않았다. 정부의 기술지원 활용도는 전체 표본의 국제화수준에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으며 저기술산업은 이를 활발히 활용할수록 국제화수준이 높아졌으나 고기술산업의 경우 오히려 국제화수준이 낮아져 산업유형이 정부기술지원활용도와 국제화수준 간의 관계에서 조절 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 국내 수출중소기업의 국제화수준과 기술혁신역량의 제고를 위한 시사점을 제안했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study examines the causal relationships among utilization of government technology support, product and process innovation capabilities, and the degree of internationalization. In addition, the moderating effects of the technological level of the firms on these relationships are explored. The hierarchical regression analyses of 210 Korean exporting SMEs indicate that product innovation capability has a positive influence on the degree of internationalization of the high-tech SMEs, whereas the impact is negative in the case of low-tech firms. Process innovation capability positively influences the degree of internationalization, regardless of the technological level of the firms. Moreover, for the low-tech SMEs, utilization of government technology support has a positive effect on the degree of internationalization, but the impact on high-tech SMEs is negative. Finally, theoretical and managerial implications are provided for both high- and low-tech Korean exporting SMEs.
