모눈종이에서 자연수를 넓이로 갖는 정사각형을 그려가면서 이들의 넓이로 나타나는 자연수들의 패턴을 찾는 과정에서, 두 제곱수의 합으로 나타나는 자연수에 대한 페르마의 관찰을 귀납적이고 유추적인 사고를 통하 여 학생들이 재발견해 가는 교수학습프로그램의 가능성을 고찰하였으며, 그 결과로 얻은 프로그램을 제안한다.
This study suggests a program for mathematical reasoning based on the Fermat’s theorem on the relation between some type of prime numbers and sum of two square numbers. In this program, students get sum of two square numbers through themselves action constructing squares with integer area, try to guess patterns with some evidence they have got, and to try to prove or disprove them.
