Comparing Two Scales Measuring Attitudes towards Mathematical Creativity for Elementary Students

본 연구는 수학 영재를 스크린 할 수 있는 기초 조사에 사용되는 초등학생용 수학적 창의성 태도 측정 도구 개발을 위한 탐색 연구의 일환으로써 두 명의 필자가 각각 다른 근거에 의해 개발된 도구를 비교해 보고, 수학 창의성 태도측정을 위한 도구 개발의 시사점을 갖는데 있다. 하나는 사이토 노보루(齋藤昇)가 개발한 수학 창의성 태도 검사를 초등학생들에게 알맞게 번안한 것이며, 다른 하나는 요인분석에 의해 추출된 요인을 중심으로 구성된 검사이다. 각 검사와 수학적 창의성, 학업성취 도간의 상관 등을 통해 두 검사를 비교한다.

This study aimed at developing suitable scales for measuring elementary school students attitudes towards mathematical creativity and verifying its practicality. A pilot study was conducted using the existing scale (CAS) to analyze the reliability of elementary school students attitudes towards mathematical creativity. Another scale is developed by using factor analysis. Through this, two scales for measuring elementary school students attitudes towards mathematical creativity was developed, and applied in the education field to examine the relationship among elementary school students mathematical creativity, attitudes towards mathematical creativity, and academic achievement. And two scales are compared with mathematical creativity and academic achievement. Our conclusion is that two scales are not much different, but it is hard to explain scores of scales. We need to know more about children’s thinking and action pattern along with developing tools.
