폰트생성을 이용한 스플라인함수 교수법

Teaching Method for the Spline Functions using Alphabet Font Generation

본 연구는 알파벳 대문자 폰트를 생성하는 과정을 통하여 스플라인함수를 학습시키는 것에 대해 연구한다. 폰트를 생성하는 과정을 이해하기 위해서 행렬, 선형변환, 미분, 스플라인 보간법, 스플 라인 함수, 곡선에 대한 매개변수표현방식 등의 수학적 이론을 지도하고, 응용으로 폰트 생성과정에 관한 알고리즘을 제시한다. 우선 일차, 이차 스플라인함수로 폰트를 생성하여 매스매티카로 그려보 고, 문제점이 발견되는 경우 제어점을 조절하고, 선형변환을 적용하여 폰트를 완성한다. 학생들은 스플라인 함수에 대한 이해에서 출발하여 폰트를 완성하기까지의 전 과정을 거치면서 문제 해결방식을 이해한다.

In this paper, we study the teaching method for the spline functions using alphabet font generation to the higher level gifted, who studied in the institution of Science Gifted Education in GangneungWonju National University. To make students understand the procedure of creating the font, we teach fundamental mathematics skills such as matrix, linear transformations, derivatives, spline interpolations, spline functions, methods of explaining parameters in curves, and propose algorithms of steps of creating font. In the beginning, we create the fonts with the first and the second order of spline function and then plot the resulting alphabets in Mathematica to show them graphically. whenever fail to make the fonts, we adjust the control points and apply linear transformation to correct them.
