사회교육 매체인 붉은 져고리에 나타난 근대 유아교육의 성격

본 연구는 근대 전환기 사회교육 매체인 붉은 져고리에 나타나는 근대 유아교육의 성격을 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 1913년 1월~6월까지 발행된 붉은 져고리 총 11호를 분석하 였다. 그 결과 ‘성인과 다른 교육을 해야 하는 유아에 대한 인식’, ‘부모 교육의 강조’, ‘전통사상과 서구사상의 접목’, ‘과학적 지식의 강조’로 근대 유아교육의 성격이 도출 되었다. 붉은 져고리는 유아를 교육함에 있어서 흥미와 재미를 고려하고 유아 시기의 교육을 강조하며 성인과 다르게 교육 하고자 하였다. 또한 붉은 져고리를 가정에서 부모가 유아에게 읽어주어야 하는 매체로 여기며, 부모 교육을 강조하였다. 더불어 붉은 져고리는 전통사상인 ‘수신’을 계승하고, 시대상이 반영된 덕의 함양을 중요하게 생각하며, 서구사상인 ‘노력’을 통해 구국해야 함을 메시지로 담아 유아를 교육하고자 하며, 전통사상과 서구사상을 접목하였다. 마지막으로 붉은 져고리는 과학적 지식과 수리 사고력을 요하는 코너를 제공함으로써 과학적 지식을 강조하였다. 본 연구는 근대 전환기 유아를 대상으로 한 사회교육 매체인 붉은 져고리에 나타난 근대 유아교육의 성격을 분석하여 근대 전환기 유아를 대상으로 한 교육이 제도교육과 함께 사회교육이 한 축으로 있었음을 밝힌 것에 그의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics of early childhood education in ‘Red Jeogori’, which was a public education media in modern transitional period. In order to discuss it, the paper examines eleven ‘Red Jeogori’, which had been published from January to June in 1913. The results are as follows: Frist, ‘Red Jeogori’ aimed to educate the child unlike the adults considering interests and fun. Second, ‘Red Jeogori’ was regarded as an important medium by their parent reading it for their children. Third, ‘Red Jeogori’ grafted traditional ideas onto Western ideas by inheriting the traditional idea ‘sushin’, cultivating virtues that was reflected the society, and emphasizing the Western ideas ‘endeavor’ to save the country. Forth, ‘Red Jeogori’ had an emphasis on the scientific knowledges by giving to columns of science and math. In conclusion, this study have significance in revealing the importance of ‘Red Jeogori’ in social educational system with a public education on as the educational media at the modern times.
