본 연구는 대학 과학영재교육원에 소속된 중학교 학생들을 대상으로 수행한 R&E의 결과를 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 디오판토스 방정식 x² + y = 2z² 의 해를 정수와 연산의 성질을 이용하는 대수적인 방법과 좌표평면에서 직선과 원의 방정식을 사용하여 구하는 해석기하학적 방법을 이용하여 각각 구하였다.
This research is based on the result of R&E which has been studied with middle school students who belong to a university science education institute for the gifted. In this research, we find solutions of the Diophantine equation x² + y = 2z²  by using algebraic methods which use properties of integers and operations, and by analytic geometric methods which use equations of lines and circles in the coordinate plane.
