미술을 전공한 미술치료 석사과정생의 자기작업 훈련에 관한 자문화기술지

Auto-ethnography on the Self-work Training Experience of an Art Therapy Trainee Majoring in Art

이 연구는 미술을 전공한 미술치료 석사과정생의 자기작업 훈련을 통해 자기성장 및 전문성을 갖춘 치료사로서 성장하고자 함을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해, 연구자가 자기인식에 대한 직면·수용의 과정을 통해 성장함을 자문화기술지의 방법으로 분석하고 기술하였다. 자문화기술지의 특성상 연구자 자신을 연구할 수 있다는 점은 흥미 있고 접근이 쉬우며 자료수집의 친숙함은 연구자의 더욱 깊은 자료 분석과 해석을 가능하게 한다는 점에서 본 연구에 알맞은 방법론이라고 생각하였으며, 미술 전공자인 내가 미술치료 석사과정생으로서 자기작업을 통한 성장에 대해 심층적으로 알 수 있었기 때문이다. 연구의 결과 및 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어린 시절부터 성인이 되어서까지 나의 진로 결정 및 의사 결정이 부모님과 주위 사람들에 의해 결정되었다는 것을 성찰하게 되었다. 이러한 사실은 맏이로서 부모님의 기대와 희망에 부응하기 위한 것으로, 미술이라는 진로를 선택하게 된 동기와도 연관되어 수동적인 모습의 나로 살았던 것을 인식하였다. 둘째, 기존에 가지고 있었던 완성 중심의 미술에 대한 고정관념을 버리고, 석사학위 과정 안에서 과정 중심의 미술치료를 경험하며 새로운 학문에 대한 정체성의 혼란을 재정립하였고, 미술치료사로서 내담자의 작업 과정과 작품을 있는 그대로 수용해주어야 함을 통찰하게 되었다. 또한, 자기작업을 통해 미술치료 석사과정생으로서 자기 자신을 직면하고 수용하는 과정과 치료사로서 임해야 하는 태도를 다시 한 번 인지하였다.

The purpose of this study is to let an art therapy trainee majoring in art grow professionally as a therapist through self-work training. For this, the process of confrontation and acceptance on self-awareness by the art therapy trainee majoring in art grew was analyzed and described, using auto-ethnography. The result and conclusion of the study are as follows. First, from childhood to adulthood and even afterwards, the decisions on my career were mostly made by the parents and other people around. It was because, as a first child, I was eager to meet the expectations of my parents and this is closely connected to the reasons why I chose art as my career. With the understanding, I was able to face the fact and see how passive I have been in my life. Second, while moving away from the stereotype on art, as a process of seeking completeness, I was able to redefine the academic identity of art, while experiencing process-oriented art therapy. I also came to acknowledge that as a therapist, I need to see and accept the work of a client as it is. Also, as a graduate student studying art therapy, I came to acknowledge that I need to confront and accept myself and what attitude I need to take through the self-work. This study is expected to provide basic data on the growth experience of art therapy trainees majoring in art.
