서방 성금요일 전례의 기원과 역사

Origin and History of the Good Friday Liturgy in the West - centering on the principal liturgical books of the Roman rite until the X century -

오늘날 성금요일 전례는 말씀 전례, 십자가 경배, 영성체로 구성되어 있다. 사실 오늘날과 같은 예식 구조를 갖기까지 성금요일 전례의 역사는 복 잡한 과정을 거쳤다. 본디 로마를 비롯한 서방 교회에서 초기 성금요일 전 례는 주님의 수난과 관련된 독서와 복음의 봉독 그리고 보편 지향 기도를 중심으로 한 말씀 전례로만 이루어져 있었다. 8세기 초반에 예루살렘 전례 에서 비롯한 십자가 경배 예식이 로마의 교황 전례 안에 처음 도입되면서 이 예식 구조에 큰 변화가 생겨났다. 곧 십자가 유물(Reliquie S. Crucis)을 들고 가는 성대한 입당 행렬과 신자들이 이 유물에 개별적으로 입맞춤하는 경배 예식이 중심을 차지하게 되었다. 한편 같은 시기에 로마에서 사제 가 주례하는 성금요일 전례는 말씀 전례, 십자가 경배, 영성체로 이루어진 삼중 구조를 처음으로 보여준다. 8-10세기를 거치면서 로마의 영향을 받은 서방 교회는 성금요일의 이러한 예식 구조를 더 체계화시켰다. 특히 프랑스의 갈리아 전례 안에 십자가 경배 때 부르는 노래와 찬미가를 비롯해 가려진 십자가를 세 번 보여주는 극적인 요소가 추가되었다. 그리고 이 새로운 요소들은 오늘날의 성금요일 전례 안에서도 확인할 수 있다.

These days, the Good Friday Liturgy is formed as to the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion. Through the complicated processes, such a liturgy has been settled. The Early Good Friday Liturgy in Western Church including Rome, which that was originally composed as to the Liturgy of the Word only centering on the Word Reading and the Gospel relating to the Lord s Passion, and General Intercessions. In the early 8th century, Veneration of the Cross which was originated from the Jerusalem Liturgy introduced to Pope Liturgy in Rome, and then there happened a big change in the liturgy structures. Magnificent entrance procession carrying the Cross relic and individual kissing adoration to this relic came to be positioned as to the center axis. In the same period in Rome, the Good Friday Liturgy which was celebrated by priest showed triple structure for the first time the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion. Through the 8th to 10th century, the Western Church which was influenced by Rome more systemized this Good Friday Ceremony. Especially, the dramatic requisite of showing veiled Cross three times along with hymns and chants when venerate the Cross, which was originated from the Gallican Liturgy, has been added. Such requisites can be confirmed in today s Good Friday Liturgy.
