『무깟디마』에 나타난 아싸비야 연구 * A Study on Asabiyyah in the Muqaddimah

This article identifies the diversity of the term Asabiyyah. In the Muqaddimah, I chose all of the parts of the text that mention Asabiyyah, specified the pages, and analyzed the meaning of the term in each sentence, paragraph, or chapter. Through this, I discovered that Ibn Khaldun used it in 129 pages of the Muqaddimah Ⅰ and in 11 pages of the Muqaddimah Ⅱ. Asabiyyah was not only helpful in establishing the dynasty, but also became a key factor in determining the reputation and nobility of the family until the Abbasids. People who held Asabiyyah took responsibility for cultural activities such as education and calligraphy. Therefore, the term Asabiyyah can be interpreted variously as the tribal solidarity, shared emotions of the group, the source of reputation, and the defense against the dynastic conquerors.
