교사교육 프로그램을 통한 초등영어 창의성 교육에 대한 교사의 인식 변화

Everyone has the potential for creativity. In order to develop students’ creativity, teachers must teach creatively and thus it is necessary to introduce courses of creativity at teacher training programs. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a teacher education program for creativity education on elementary English teachers’ perceptions of creativity education. To this end, a teacher education program consisting of theories of creativity and methods of creative teaching was developed and applied to twenty six elementary school teachers. The program was made up of 12 two-hour sessions, and the data were collected from surveys and open-ended questions before and after the program. The results of the study were as follows. First, the teachers’ perceptions of creativity education had changed positively and so they came to think that it would not be impossible to implement creativity education in elementary English class. Second, the teachers who had limited knowledge of creativity and creative teaching skills at the beginning developed competence in creativity education through this program, and gained confidence that they could apply creativity education to English lessons. Based on these results, suggestions for further studies are provided.
