KDB모형을 기반으로 한 주제중심 초등영어 교수학습 방안 연구:

The purpose of this study is to examine how theme-based instruction in elementary English classroom influenced students’ English production skills and global citizenship. For this purpose, the authors reviewed previous studies comprehensively and restructured an elementary English curriculum for teachingtheme-based learning. Based on literature review, global citizen education contents were selected, for example human, global system, global issues and problems, and global history and culture Finally, the authors designed each lesson with KDB(Knowledge, Do, Be) model focusing on developing the knowledge, behave, and value of students. The experiment was conducted on one experimental group for 15 weeks. After finishing the experiment, the authors examined students’ production skills(speaking and writing skills) and their global citizenship perceptions. The results shows that 1) the English speaking and writing skills of the students’ were significantly improved. Especially, English speaking ability was improved a lot. 2) The global citizenship of them was also increased meaningly. In qualitative analysis, students showed that they were interested in global citizenship education and participated in various activities more actively which influenced students’ language abilities. Based on the analysis, implications and future studies were discussed.
