생명과 생태를 위한 에너지전환과 절약 그리고 자립에 대한 윤리적 성찰

An Ethical Evaluation on the Energy Transformation and Saving for Life and Ecosystem

모든 생명체들은 생존을 위해 에너지를 필요로 한다. 이런 에너지는 주로 먹이를 통해서 얻게 된다. 이는 자연 상태에서는 순환적이고 비교적 안정적이다. 그러나 인간들은 먹이를 통한 자연에서의 기본적인 생명유지, 즉 생존에 만족하지 않는다. 그래서 인간은 문명과 기술을 발전시켰고 기본적인 생명유지를 위해 필요한 그 이상의 에너지를 요구하게 되었다. 그래서 에너지의 과다 사용은 오늘날 에너지위기라는 인류역사상 전례 없는 문제를 야기하게 된다. 그런데 이런 위기는 단순히 에너지 부족과 고갈이라는 문제에만 그치는 것이 아니라 생태 및 환경의 오염으로 인한 생명의 위협은 물론 인류의 지속가능성 문제와 같은 우리 생존조건의 총체적인 위협을 말하는 것이다. 그래서 여기에서는 에너지와 더불어 우리는 어떻게 사는 것이 바람직한 것인지에 대해 비판적으로 검토한다. 그러기 위해 먼저 나는 에너지위기와 그 현황에 대해 살피고 그러한 위기를 극복하기 위한 방안으로 에너지전환의 문제, 에너지 효율향상 방안 및 에너지절약 그리고 자립 및 독립을 위해 우리가 견지해야 하는 삶의 태도 문제 등 에너지 생산과 소비를 둘러싸고 제기되는 제반 실천적 문제들, 즉 윤리적 에너지 이용의 문제에 대해 비판적으로 검토한다.

All life forms need energy to survive. They get this energy mostly from the food. This energy is circulatory and comparatively stable in the natural state. But human beings are not satisfied with the basic maintenance of life, i.e., the mere survival, in nature by food. So human beings have developed their own culture and technology, which require far more energy than that needed for the basic survival. Today this heavy use of energy have resulted in an unprecedented energy crisis in the history of this planet. However this crisis does not simply cause the problem of energy shortages and depletion, but also the problems of sustainable development and environmental pollution which threaten the survival conditions of all life forms. Therefore in this paper I examine critically how we should live our lives with the energy. For this purpose, first I investigate the energy crisis and its present situation. And then, as the way to cope with that crisis, I examine the various practical problems surrounding energy production and consumption, especially the problems of energy transformation and saving for life and ecosystem. In short, this study focuses on ethical use of energy.
