자폐스펙트럼장애학생의 의사소통 어려움에 대한 장애인활동보조인의 인식 및 교육적 지원 요구

The Educational Needs and Communication Difficulties of School-Aged Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder as Perceived by Personal Assistants for the Disabled

본 연구는 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생을 지원하는 장애인활동보조인이 인식하는 의사소통 어려움과 그에 적절하게 대처하기 위한 교육적 지원 요구를 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 9명의 장애인활동보조인을 대상으로 개별 심층면담을 진행하였다. 질적 분석 결과 (1) 자폐스펙트럼장애 활동지원의 경험, (2) 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 의사소통 및 행동에 대한 경험 (3) 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 의사소통 어려움에 대한 반응, (4) 의사소통 어려움에 대처하기 위한 교육적 지원 요구 등 총 4개의 대주제와 9개의 하위 주제로 정리되었다. 장애인활동보조인은 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 의사소통 결함은 의사소통 어려움을 동반한 다른 장애에 비해 두드러지며, 이러한 어려움에 대한 효율적인 대처를 위하여 자폐스펙트럼장애 전문가가 포함된 사례중심의 교육을 요구하였다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생들에게 활동지원을 제공하는 장애인활동보조 인에 대한 사회적 지지가 필요하며, 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 효율적인 활동지원을 도모 하기 위하여 장애특성을 고려한 교육적 지원을 포함하는 교육과정의 개선이 필요함을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current issue of personal assistant for the disabled by their personal experience of communication difficulties with ASDs and their needs for the educational supports. Accordingly, an analysis was conducted in-depth interviews with 9 personal assistants for the disabled. Four primary themes and nine sub-themes emerged from qualitative analysis: (1) Experience of personal assistants: motivation for the work, job lists and satisfaction, also difficulties, (2) Perception of language, communicative skill and behaviors: difficulties with language and social communication, experience of ASDs behavior, (3) Reactions to communicative difficulties with clients: reacting and problem solving for the communication difficulties, experiences of useful supports, and (4) Needs of the educational supports for problem solving for the communication difficulties: experience of education and satisfaction of education, needs of the educational supports. We suggest that personal assistants need more understanding and social supports by ASD’s family and professional educational supports.
