예비 초등교사들이 인식하는 우수한 초등교사의 특성 탐색

The Study on Prospective Elementary Teachers Perceived Characteristics of Effective Elementary School Teachers

이 연구는 예비 초등교사들이 인식하는 우수한 초등교사의 특성이 무엇인지를 밝히는데 있으며, 구체적인 연구문제는 예비 초등교사들이 인식하는 우수한 초등교사특성들의 개념적 구조와 중요도는 어떠한가 이다. 이를 위해 G 교육대학교에 재학 중인 1학년부터 4학년까지의 재학생 23명을 대상으로 개념도 연구방법을 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 이 연구에서는 이들 연구대상자들과의 면담을 통해 54개의 최종진술문들을 추출하고 이것들을 범주화하여 평가한 뒤 다차원분석과 군집분석을 하여 개념도를 작성하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 첫째, 예비 초등교사들은 우수한 초등교사의 특성을 개인-조직 차원과 교사-학생 차원이라는 두 가지 차원에서 인식하는것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 예비 초등교사들이 인식하는 우수한 초등교사의 특성요인은 3개의 군집으로 분류되었으며, 이는 학생들을 사랑하고 존경받는 교사, 전문성을 갖추고 잘 가르치는 교사, 인품과 자질이 뛰어난 교사로 나타났다. 셋째, 3개의 군집별 중요도는 학생들을 사랑하고 존경받는 교사, 전문성을 갖추고 잘 가르치는 교사, 인품과 자질이 뛰어난 교사의 순이었다. 연구 참여자들이 중요하다고 판단한 우수한 초등교사의 특성들은 ‘학생들에게 꿈과 희망을 준다’, ‘학생들로부터 신뢰를 받고 있다’, ‘학생들을 열정적으로 가르친다’ 등으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결론 및 제언은 첫째, 예비 초등교사들이 인식한 우수한 초등교사의 특성요인은 교사의 인품과 자질함양, 학교에서 전문적인 능력 발휘, 학생들과의 원만한 관계 형성 등과 관계가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 예비 초등교사들이 인식한 우수한 초등교사의 특성요인은 일반교사들과 초등학생들이 인식한 우수한 초등교사의 특성요인들과 거의 유사하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 예비 초등교사들은 우수한 초등교사들의 특성요인들 중에서 학생들과의 관계 형성과 관련된 특성들을 더 높게 평가하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 이 연구는 우수한 초등교사의 특성에 대한 개념적 구조를 파악하는데 실제적인 기초자료를 제공함은 물론 이와 관련된 정책 및 프로그램 개발에 활용될 수 있을것이다.

This study explored prospective elementary teachers perceived characteristics of effective elementary school teachers using the technique of concept mapping. The research question is what the conceptional structures and the relative importance of the items of effective elementary school teachers characteristics as perceived by prospective elementary teachers are. This study analyze data and concept maps taken from interviews with 23 prospective elementary teachers in G National University of Education. The prospective elementary teachers were interviewed, the final statements were reduced to 54, and the participants classified and rated the final statement lists. Multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis was employed to estimate dimensions in the extracted factor. The results of this study are as follows: First, prospective elementary teachers recognized the individual-organization dimension and the teacher-student dimension in two different dimensions. Second, prospective elementary teachers perceived the characteristics of an effective school teachers in 3 clusters. First was that the teacher loved students and was respected from them; second, that the teacher had the expertise and taught the students excellently; and lastly, that the teacher had good personality and qualities. The conclusions of this study were as follows: First, this study identified that characteristics of effective elementary school teachers were related with the cultivation of personal characters and qualities, the exercise of professional skills in school, and harmonious relationships with students. Second, this study identified that characteristics of effective elementary school teachers were similar to general school teachers and elementary school students perceived characteristics. And lastly, this study identified that prospective elementary teachers was more highly evaluated harmonious relationships with students than others characteristics of elementary school teachers.
